Apple is preparing a major update for the iPhone with the release of iOS 19, which will be presented next month at the WWDC conference. One of the key innovations in this version will be a new power management system based on artificial intelligence — Apple Intelligence. This system will be able to analyze the way the device is used and help extend its battery life.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple plans to implement an AI-based power saving mode. It will collect data on battery usage and automatically reduce power consumption by targeting apps and features that are rarely used. Apple Intelligence will identify which apps drain the battery most and offer suggestions on how to conserve power. For example, it might reduce the screen refresh rate or limit background activity for social media apps. Additionally, a new indicator on the lock screen will display the estimated time remaining until the device is fully charged.
A Key Feature for the iPhone 17 Air
This update is expected to be especially valuable for the upcoming iPhone 17 Air — a thin version of the smartphone that will launch this fall. Due to its compact design, the iPhone 17 Air will have a smaller battery, which naturally results in shorter battery life. However, Apple Intelligence is expected to compensate for this by optimizing energy usage. While the iPhone 17 Air may benefit the most from this feature, it will also be available on other compatible models.
Release Timeline and Availability
The full list of innovations coming in iOS 19 will be revealed in June during Apple’s annual WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), where major iOS updates are traditionally announced, adds NIXSOLUTIONS. The new version of the operating system will become available in September, alongside the release of the iPhone 17 Air. Devices compatible with Apple Intelligence will be able to access the new AI-powered features, including the updated power-saving mode.
We’ll keep you updated as more details become available and as Apple confirms additional features and device support in the lead-up to the official release.
