NIX Solutions: Google Tests New Photos App Design

Google has launched a poll on the SurveyJunkey website, asking users to choose a new design for the Photos app. The company is likely collecting initial feedback on the proposed changes before making any final decisions.

Key Design Changes

A screenshot comparison reveals several major updates. The current interface is shown on the left, while the proposed redesign is on the right. Notable changes include:

  • Larger collections at the top

  • A rounded shape for the photo block

  • A floating bottom panel

The current version of the app has three tabs: Photos, Collections, and Search. In contrast, the new design introduces a main screen displaying all photos, a search bar, and a dedicated tab for collections and albums.

Will This Design Be Final?

Android Police previously reported on a Photos app redesign featuring a floating bottom panel back in 2023. However, it remains unclear if the version shown in the survey is final or if it will be implemented at all, notes NIX Solutions. Yet, we’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
