Telegram has introduced a cost-effective solution for businesses to authenticate customer numbers—Telegram Gateway. This tool allows companies to send confirmation codes to customers worldwide for just $0.01 per code, according to Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
Cost Savings for Businesses
The goal of Telegram Gateway is to reduce the expenses associated with user verification. Telegram has already verified the numbers of nearly a billion users, and businesses will only be charged $0.01 per code sent to verified numbers. For comparison, the cost of sending traditional SMS verification codes can be up to 50 times higher. If the phone number a business wants to authenticate isn’t linked to a Telegram account, the messenger won’t charge any fee for the verification attempt.
Minimal Revenue, Maximum Efficiency
Pavel Durov emphasized that this new service is unlikely to become a significant revenue stream for Telegram, given the low pricing. However, the initiative aims to help businesses operate more efficiently by providing affordable authentication tools, notes NIXsolutions.
Telegram Gateway was part of five recent updates introduced by the platform, showcasing its continuous efforts to expand functionality for users and businesses alike. We’ll keep you updated on further improvements and announcements.
