The latest beta version of WhatsApp introduces an unusual feature. It appears that the messenger may soon allow communication not only with real people but also with digital interlocutors. A first screenshot showcasing the updated “AI interface” has already surfaced online.
New AI Tab in Beta
The screenshot reveals a new “AIs” tab replacing the usual “Communities” section. However, it seems that “Communities” won’t be removed entirely. Instead, the company appears to be shifting its focus toward implementing AI functionality. Based on the insider screenshot, the “AIs” tab will house virtual chatbots featuring different “characters” and communication scenarios.
Possibility to Create Custom Bots
Each bot is displayed with the nickname of its author, suggesting users may have the ability to create their own virtual characters. While this opens up exciting possibilities, there are no official details about the feature yet, notes NIXsolutions. The developers have not announced when these AI interlocutors will become available in the stable version of WhatsApp.
As this development unfolds, we’ll keep you updated on any announcements or new integrations from WhatsApp.
