Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reports that Apple has postponed several features initially planned for iOS 19, pushing their release to a later date. According to Gurman, these features will become available only with iOS 19.4, expected to launch in the spring of 2026.
This delay follows a familiar pattern, as Apple employed a similar approach with the rollout of Apple Intelligence AI features in iOS 18. Likewise, the updated Siri voice assistant, introduced at WWDC 2024 alongside other iOS 18 innovations, is also delayed until iOS 18.4, scheduled for release next spring.
Details on the Postponements
While Gurman didn’t specify which features are being postponed, he confirmed that it involves more than just Siri. “I’ve been told that more than the usual number of features planned for iOS 19 (besides Siri) have already been delayed until spring 2026 (when iOS 19.4 debuts),” he noted.
The journalist highlighted Apple’s ongoing efforts to develop a new neural network that will serve as the foundation for Siri in iOS 19. This development is part of the broader enhancements Apple has planned for its software.
What to Expect in 2025 and 2026
Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 at the annual WWDC conference in June 2025. The first public version of iOS 19 will likely arrive in September 2025, coinciding with the release of the iPhone 17 lineup. However, many of the highly anticipated features will remain unavailable until iOS 19.4, notes NIXSolutions.
Although these delays might seem disappointing, Apple’s track record suggests that the wait will result in more refined and robust features. We’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available and as Apple announces further details.
