On May 20, the day of the Google I/O 2025 conference, beta versions of native NotebookLM mobile apps for iOS and Android will launch, replacing the current web-based PWA. These new apps will integrate more deeply with system features on mobile devices, offering push notifications and better performance. One key addition is full offline access to previously generated audio reviews, allowing users to listen to materials without an Internet connection. This makes NotebookLM a fully mobile AI tool for studying, analyzing, and creating personalized content on the go.
NotebookLM, originally released in 2023 as a progressive web app, gained attention for its functionality but was limited by browser-based restrictions, such as the lack of offline use and incomplete support for background audio playback. The new native apps are designed to address these issues and enhance the overall user experience. We’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available.
A Smarter Notepad with Reliable AI Support
Often referred to as a next-generation “smart notepad,” NotebookLM enables users to upload and analyze various types of content. Supported formats include PDFs, text, Google Docs, Google Slides, YouTube video links, articles, and audio files. The AI processes the material, highlights key points, answers questions, and can even generate short audio reviews—essentially podcasts based on the uploaded data.
NotebookLM runs on the latest Gemini family AI models, with all responses linked to their source material. This ensures transparency and traceability, making it a dependable tool for students, researchers, analysts, and anyone working with factual content. Features like offline audio playback and background listening improve usability in daily life, adds NIX Solutions.
