WhatsApp has announced the rollout of support for passwordless login through access keys in its Apple iOS application. This new feature enables users to log into their accounts using biometric authentication, such as Face ID or Touch ID, or by entering their phone password.
Improved Security and Convenience
Previously introduced for Android users in October last year, access key login was added to the beta version of the iPhone application in January. Now, WhatsApp is gradually making this feature available to all iOS users, with a full rollout expected in the coming weeks.
Enhanced Authentication
Passkey technology is anticipated to offer a secure authentication option, replacing traditional passwords and two-factor authentication via SMS. Moreover, users can log in even when their device is offline. You can check for access key support on your device in the application settings.
Continued Accessibility Across Platforms
Despite the introduction of this new login method, users will still have the option to log into WhatsApp on other platforms by scanning a QR code in the smartphone application, notes NIXSOLUTIONS. This method remains the primary means of accessing accounts, taking precedence over Windows and macOS clients, as well as the web version of the service.
